Stretch and hold! No, this isn’t a yoga class. It’s silicone rubber.
Just like the name suggests, silicone rubber is an elastomer made of silicone. Widely used, a silicone mould is non-reactive, and stubbornly strong.
Condensation silicones (also known as tin-cure) are two-component materials which cure at room temperature (RTV) to flexible, high tear strength rubbers. And there are additional cure silicones (platinum-cure) which are also two-component, high tear strength silicones that exhibit extremely low shrinkage and high physical properties.
You can find different types of liquid silicone online at Rowe Trading – including condensation and addition cure silicones, plus skin safe life casting silicones.
We have a one-component adhesive, Sil-poxy, made specifically for bonding RTV silicone rubber to silicone rubber, as well as other substrates. It’s flexible and can be used to repair torn silicone rubber moulds.
If you’re looking for a self-releasing, platinum-cure liquid silicone that can be applied directly to the skin, you’ll find it here. We have Body Double silicone that cures quickly and reproduces excellent detail from any original model.
